Results
Following a successful live demo, the team decided not to further develop DimpleDesk due to other more immediate priorities. If we were to launch the web app, we would track the following metrics:
Retention Rate
Being able to retain customers on DimpleDesk will be important as we want users to continue to list and rent workspaces through our web platform long term.
Customer Lifetime Value
Tracking the lifetime value of customers will allow us to understand the spending habits of different types of tenants and which types of tenants we should focus on acquiring to maximize marketing returns.
Monthly Recurring Revenue
Monthly recurring revenue will be an important metric to track, reflecting the platform’s financial performance and long-term growth potential. We can track this metric after implementing a payment gateway.
Some Context
The Company
DimpleDesk was created while I was enrolled at Langara College. For the MVP, we focused on the tenant side of the platform, keeping in mind future features (payment & booking system) that are needed for DimpleDesk to be fully functional.
The Design Team
The design team consists of three people: a creative director, a graphic artist, and a product designer (me).
My Role
My role on the team involved both product design (ideation, creating user flows, and producing mockups) and project management (writing progress reports, coordinating between design & dev team, and assigning & tracking tasks).
Design Process
1.
Research & Ideate
Started the design process by researching existing solutions, ideating how a DimpleDesk can help telecommuters find workspaces that suit them, and figuring out our vision for DimpleDesk as a workspace marketplace platform.
2.
Scope Things Down
With a vision and solution in mind, we narrowed down the scope of our MVP so that we could design and develop a functional web app for a live demo in 12 weeks.
3.
Optimize User Experience
Ensured the workspace search user experience was smooth and simple while keeping the design within a feasible scope.
4.
Implement Design System
Implemented design components, font styles, and color styles (based on Material Design 2) to ensure design efficiency and consistency.
5.
Handoff Design
Dev-ready designs were tagged for the dev team using the Figma comment tool and links of relevant design files were also provided for each task on Asana.
